SHAPES GUIDE

HJM PRO

TYPE: SHORTBOARD

Developed with team rider and local South Bay stand out Hunter Jones this is a true utility board. This shape bridges the gap between a groveler shape and a traditional high performance shortboard. The HJM is your ideal board for all conditions. This board works well in knee to overhead surf, but excels in mid sized waves.

The HJM has a flatter deck and just the right width in the nose to make it versatile in all surf. With a wide point pushed slightly forward it also features a wider tail block which is pulled in with a bump to rounded squash/rounded diamond tail. This helps break up the outline while creating key pivot points for better rail to rail transitions.

The HJM has a magical combination of bottom contours that have proven insanely successful over the past two years developing this shape. Relaxed nose entry rocker with vee entry to single concave up under the chest transitioning into slight double concave through the Fins and vee off the tail equals increased lift and drive.

The more elliptical outline (wider nose and increased tail block) elongates the rail line in the water which also helps give this shred sled its lift off.

Best ridden 2-4 inches shorter than your traditional shortboard. Available in a squared swallow tail or bump squash tail.

All skill levels.

HPS

TYPE: SHORTBOARD

This is Ry's go-to traditional shortboard shape. It's as simple as the name - High-Performance Shortboard. The theory with this board is simple..less is more. Based on years of rider feedback, we have constantly refinded and redesigned this gem. We have trimmed all of the body fat and what is left is a killer shortboard design. A wider nose outline with slight vee entry and traditional shortboard nose rocker blends in to a single concave running deepest under the front foot, into a double concave running through the fins with slight vee off the tail. The bump/squash tail combo breaks up the tail outline just enough so that it serves as a perfect pivot point for high performance surfing. A traditional domed deck with medium volume rails helps keep enough foam under the chest for optimum paddling power and livelier feel.

This board is best ridden about the same length as the rider's height plus or minus an inch or two depending on skill level. It excels in good surf, and is best in head high plus waves.

DIRT MERCHANT

TYPE: SHORTBOARD

The Dirt Merchant is a great all-around traditional shortboard shape. This shape serves as Ry's utility/shortboard hybrid. Slightly wider all around than the HPS, this model packs a bit more volume so it's an overall more versatile shape as it also works in smaller waves. The pulled in thumb tail gives you the width at the fins of a groveler but is pulled in behind the fins enough so that it holds a good line in overhead surf. A reduced entry rocker helps maintain a lower rail line which means more rail in the water, yielding a super fast board. The DM is meant to be surfed on rail and in the pocket for tight turns, critical maneuvers, and high performance surfing.

Best ridden 1-2" shorter than the rider's height.

EL NINO STICK

TYPE: STEP-UP / MINI GUN

To put it simply, this shape is for charging pumping surf. Every surfer needs a true step-up in their quiver for when the waves really start to fire. The perfect addition to your quiver for gnarly winter days, south swells in Mexico, winter in Hawaii, or wherever your surf travels take you. This is our HPS model stretched out and scaled up with the necessary increase in nose and tail rocker to match the curve of big overhead waves. Simple proven concaves - single under the chest and front foot to subtle double through the fins and vee off the tail. A pulled in pintail for maximum hold in solid surf.

This model is best ridden 2-4" longer than your go-to shortboard length. Available as custom order only.

DIMENSIONS:

From 5'11" (grom sized) to 7'2".

PISC

TYPE: GROVELER

While trying to come up with a fresh new groveler shape for summer, Ry was combing through his templates and found an oldie but a goodie and his favorite shape. The Pisc is a very simple combination of these two. It borrows from the popular Punt model in the nose and the wider elliptical outline of an old Podunk shape, the Disc. Low entry rocker with a significant flip off the tail for tighter radius turns. There is a ton of hidden volume in this board with a more flat deck but with nice medium to low volume performance rails so you can really feel the board when it's up on rail. Vee entry, into single-to-double concave through the fins and slight vee off the tail.

Best ridden 6-8" shorter than your traditional shortboard, and excels in lack luster surf up to about a couple feet overhead.

PUNT

TYPE: GROVELER

Our most popular groveler model, Ry's answer to a request by a former team rider for a "good air board for crap conditions." The Punt is best ridden 6-8" shorter than your traditional shortboard, and the name says it all, this board is really fast - think lots of boosts! The low entry rocker and subtle concave work together to create tremendous drive and lift, which help you launch. This model has a wide nose for extra planing surface and a relatively wide tail in front of the fins with a nice bump into a rounded diamond tail. Comes standard as a 5 fin convertible for added versatility. Great in the small stuff up to about 1' overhead, for all skill levels.

SIDECUT MINI SIMMONS

TYPE: FUNBOARD

Inspired by the traditional Mini Simmons that is dominating the small wave lineups these days, this model is designed for gutless days when it looks too small to even paddle out. It can turn a mushy small wave slop fest into a fun-filled wave sliding shred fiesta. Ry took the traditional wider outline of the Mini Simmons and threw in a parabolic sidecut for this shape.

The sidecut helps to create drive and turn the board on a dime while on rail going full speed. A traditional vee/belly entry gives way to a subtle single concave under the front foot into deep double concaves and vee off the tail. It has a relatively flat deck and slight step rails to help keep the volume up under your chest.

These boards are meant to be ridden 6-10" shorter than your go-to shortboard. Ideal wave size is 1' ankle slappers to about head high plus. All skill levels.

DISPLACEMENT HULL

TYPE: MID-LENGTH

The Displacement Hull, or DH, is an often overlooked shape. Ry has been shaping hulls from the start of his career, and loves the speed and versatility they provide.

The DH provides a whole new way to enjoy the average waves we typically have on offer. Adding a little bit of shortboard DNA at the tail makes this design work extremely well on a wide variety of waves and conditions. It has low rocker, rolled bottom, and a performance tail with double concave and hard release edges.

This provides speed and turning in waves that have some open face, and it absolutely flies on long high-tide walls. Nothing compares to the feeling of sinking a bottom turn on the DH and then flying up the face in a long arcing top-turn. Step back on the tail to carve a tight radius turn when the wave allows.

Consider the DH as an alternative to your egg or longboard, and put a whole new kind of smile on your face.

Order custom for your ability, waves and surfing preferences. Fins can be versatile because of the tail's double concave - single, 2+1, bonzer, and quads work very well.

DIMENSIONS:

Typical size goes from 6'6" to 8'0".

THE OHNO

TYPE: MID-LENGTH

The Ohno is Ry's take on the classic performance egg. This is the most versatile shape in the line, and is suitable for beginners to advanced surfers. Everyone should have a solid egg in their quiver..

If you're a beginner that is ready to move towards shorter boards, The Ohno will get you there and help you learn better turning and wave catching.

If you're a good surfer looking for a versatile mid-length board, The Ohno will be fun in all conditions and provide endless experimentation opportunities. The rail thickness and rocker can be customized to provide the exact kind of ride you need.

The Ohno has a single concave into a slight double concave with vee. Continuous rocker throughout the board is a perfect blend of wave catching and turning ability. The single wing thumb tail carves turns off the tail with ease. Fins are highly versatile and can be set up as single, 2+1, quad, or twinnie

DIMENSIONS:

Size range is 6'8" to 8'0".

THE CLASSIC

TYPE: LONGBOARD

Ry Harris makes all sorts of longboard shapes, and they are all based off of the same design - The Classic.

The Classic is a traditional longboard shape with a wide nose (18 3/4" and up) and a relatively pulled in tail. It features a deep teardrop nose concave into a slight belly bottom with traditional vee off the tail. The rails are 50/50 and rolled soft nose to tail. This is the perfect model for performance longboarding and nose riding.

DIMENSIONS:

Available 9'0" up to 10'4".

DA NOSERIDAH

TYPE: LONGBOARD

Da Noseridah is a traditional longboard shape with a wide nose and pulled in tail. The deep teardrop nose concave and belly bottom is ideal for noseriding, with traditional vee off the tail. Think the rollers at San O, The Cove, or Malibu.
