The Dirt Merchant is a great all around traditional shortboard shape. This shape serves as Ry’s utility/traditional shortboard hybrid. “this was the only board I used on a recent trip to Maui during El Nino”. Slightly wider all around than the HPS this model packs a bit more volume so it’s an overall more versatile shape as it works in smaller waves as well. The pulled in thumb tail gives you the width at the fins of a groveler but is pulled in behind the fins enough so that it holds a good line in overhead surf…A reduced entry rocker helps maintain a lower rail line which means more rail in the water which results  in a really fast board. The DM is meant to be surfed on rail and in the pocket for tight turns critical maneuvers and high performance surfing. Best ridden 1-2″ shorter than you are tall or your same height.
